Quick Double-Thick Potholder
Brenda K.B. AndersonFollow along with Brenda K. B. Anderson as she demonstrates how to make an easy double-thick potholder. This project can be made with wool or cotton. Avoid using synthetic fibers as they will not hold up to high heat. Brenda is using a #4 dishcloth cotton and an H/8 [(5mm) hook in this video. For those who may want to make a larger or smaller piece, Brenda shows us how with a tiny bit of math, you can easily change the dimensions of the finished piece.
To begin, Brenda starts out with a foundation chain, and works one row into the bottom of the chain. From this point on, she works this piece in the round without joins. As the potholder becomes a rectangular pouch shape, she shows us how to know when it is time to stop, finishing with a partial round to help position the yarn tail for easy seaming. Brenda ends this video by giving some suggestions for easy customization. This potholder is really fun to make due to its interesting construction method, and would make a great gift!
