Tassels are a fun way to add a little extra pizzaz to your crochet projects. They can be used to dress up bags, pillows, shawls, and can even be made into cute earrings! They are easy to make and all you need is some scrap yarn, a small piece of cardboard, and a little know-how.

In this video, Brenda shows us two different ways to create tassels- each with a different look. The basic tassel is a great place to begin, and can be customized with different yarn and a variety of cardboard sizes to create the tassel that’s just right for your project. The second tassel Brenda shows us has a large, decorative “eye” at the top and can use up to 3 different colors to make a truly unique embellishment.

When demonstrating the basic tassel, Brenda explains how to adjust the look of your tassel by changing the height of the cardboard, wrapping the yarn a different amount of times, or using a different type of yarn. She shows us how to create the tassel and how to make the cord it hangs from while giving plenty of tips for success.

After completing the basic tassel, Brenda shows us how to make the tassel with the decorative eye. She uses the same piece of cardboard, however, this time it is held vertically in order to make loops that are much taller. Brenda shows us how to group the yarn strands together and how to wrap the eye of the tassel, sharing lots of tips for easier assembly. For this tassel variation, Brenda shows us how to make a two-tone twisted cord for hanging.
