Thrumming is a technique, more common in knitting, in which bits of un-spun fleece are incorporated into your project every couple of stitches as you are crocheting. This creates a fluffy, incredibly warm lining on the inside of your project, as well as cute little hearts that decorate the outside. This method of thrumming is developed specifically for use with single crochet stitches, and although it takes a bit of extra time to add the thrums, it is so worth it! I live in Minnesota and I was going to say that, when you said that you live in Minnesota too! Yes, nice, warm mittens forever!
