Freestyle Fingerless Mitts
Brenda K.B. AndersonIn this video Brenda is walks us through the construction of a basic fingerless mitten. This mitten was designed to go with the popular “Freestyle Beanie” that she made last year. These fingerless mittens are made to measure, meaning that you do not have to follow a pattern. You can make them with whatever yarn you choose, and a hook size that results in a firm gauge.
This project begins with a foundation chain and then a row of single crochet stitches. The amount of stitches we work across is dependent upon the hook size, yarn weight, and the desired length of the mitts- this is completely up to you to decide! After completing the first row, we begin working in the half-double crochet ribbing pattern, where we work through the back loop. When we are about halfway done with the mitt, we leave an opening for the thumb, then finish up the rectangle in the half double crochet ribbing pattern.
Brenda shares plenty of tips and advice as she demonstrates how to make this project, so that you will end up with a pair of fingerless mitts that fit well and look beautiful!
