You’ll feel like a magician when you work up this beautiful stitch pattern - it looks quite complicated, but it’s secretly really simple to do! You will not believe how these two basic stitches can combine together to create something that looks like the texture of cabled fabric. This stitch pattern is surprisingly easy to memorize, with a 4-row repeat, but even easier to “read your stitches.” This means that you can easily recognize what stitch comes next, even if you lose your place.

This versatile stitch pattern is very stretchy and warm and doesn’t have large holes between stitches. It’s great for garments and accessories such as hats, cowls, fingerless mittens as well as blankets and home décor. Brenda demonstrates how to create this beautifully textured stitch, gives us tips along the way to help us learn the repeat, and shows us some extra variations at the end of the video including a beautiful 2-color version.
