Once you’ve learned the crochet basics, there are a few extra tools that you’ll need to complete your projects. In this video, Corrina Ferguson discusses row counters and how to use them with your crochet project. There are several different types of row counters, and Corrina will explain them all to help you decide which one is the best for you!
A row counter can be used for various reasons, including counting rows or rounds, pattern repeats, or shaping. A few different kinds are:
- Manual clicker
- Digital clicker
- Dial row counter
- App on smartphone
- Pen and paper
Like many crochet notions, row counters are a matter of personal preference. Experiment to find the right one for you and your crochet project.
I like the last option – the clicker – but can the tabs on the side move so that the count resets and you lose your place? How about the top? Could you inadvertently press it and increase the row count? Thank you!
Thank you for contacting us.
Sadly yes, you can accidentally reset those clicker types, or hit the top button without intending to. Great if you are going to only work on it at home and can keep it by your chair but I personally don’t throw those in my project bag for that reason.
